Christianity
Christianity is my topic of discussion in this article. More specifically, why I believe in it. Now, religion is a sensitive topic, so I would just like to say that I am in no way insulting other religions or their believers, or trying to force them to believe in the same god as I. So, for a while I didn't really believe in god. I saw it all as some kind of fantasy, magical story made up by people long ago. That was back before I somehow went from a rude, tyrant of a 6th grader to the philosopher that I am today, and will be until I die (once you think deeply into the void of philosophy, you can't unthink it). I also didn't truly believe in god in all the years before that. And the reason I started to believe in god (the christian one) was because I started to think about how it worked. I, in my mind, tried to prove anything about god incorrect, and despite my knowledge of science, logic, and reality, I couldn't. And you may think that a coincident, but really, that would be one heck of a coincidence. I mean, do you really think somebody millions and millions of years ago could write something like a religion, with a god, that couldn't be proved wrong with later discoveries such as space, astronomy, technology of the modern day, how weather works, etc? Even if that person was some kind of mastermind, how could he or she have possibly predicted all the future discoveries? Well, I say person, but I mean people. Anyways, here is an example. Greek Mythology. And after some studying of the bible, I realized how clever it was. Clever not as in trickery, or false believing-enducing, but clever in the sense of how god, as he is portrayed, would need it. It does not really deny any facts or things, or events, or anything very much. It also didn't claim that anything like water, or weather, for example, worked a certain way, but instead that it could be altered with godly power. And another thing I find interesting. Some people think that a lot of people believe in god solely because of heaven and hell, some people even believe that is why the religion works* (*sorry for lack of better term). And perhaps that is partly true. Think about it- if god wanted us to believe in him, but also wanted us to have a choice, using the promise of heaven or hell like that could be a good way to let people keep their choice, but still help them make the right choice. And now I would like to talk about my theory as to why god created humans, and gave us choice (if you believe in that). My theory is that emotions like care, forgiveness, selflessness, pity, mercy, joy, creativity, and likewise are emotions (and traits) that god has. Superior emotions (and traits). And he has created us because those emotions and traits make him want to. And he gave us those emotions and traits too, to some extents. And I believe that the true scale of those traits and emotions, which god has, are far beyond what humans can experience (until in heaven. Possibly). And I do not believe god knows everything, or has full control over fate and destiny. I do, however, think he can help people with stuff along the lines of luck. And the fact that he can observe everyone with the same love and care, all at once, and process all that- its very humbling. And so, I believe in the christian religion. And it's quite fitting, since both my first and middle names are both christian (Matthew means gift from god, apparently. And Christopher is, well, its obvious why that is fitting). Well, if you read all that, then thanks for listening.
